"Contemplation" (Kaleidoscope Photo)

This is an actual photo from the inside of a kaleidoscope. It has been printed on canvas with an outline in blue and a border of dark brown. Ready to hang. Framing is not needed as the border wraps around the stretcher frame.

The mandala, according to Carl Jung, symbolizes “a safe refuge of inner reconciliation and wholeness.” It is “a synthesis of distinctive elements in a unified scheme representing the basic nature of existence.”

Tibetan monks and the Navaho Indians create sand mandalas to demonstrate the impermanence of life.

Mandalas are used in meditative practices around the world.

How It All Started

I visited one of the galleries exhibiting my artworks a couple of months ago, and while I was waiting to talk to the gallery owner I picked up a handmade kaleidoscope and looked inside.

Sheer joy radiated throughout my body, mind, and spirit.

I bought it, then thought, "These images are so beautiful! And ... So transient. Here for a moment to give awe in their beauty, then gone forever. To capture them with a photo would be sublime."

Three days later, after running down my camera battery 6 times, I had done it.

Check back soon so see these images.
